Will Pankaj Tripathi Replace Paresh Rawal in 'Hera Pheri 3'? The Actor Reacts: 'I’m Nothing in Front of Him'

Following Paresh Rawal’s unexpected exit from Hera Pheri 3, rumours began swirling about who might step into the iconic role of Baburao. Pankaj Tripathi, who previously replaced Rawal in OMG 2, was a frontrunner in fan discussions. However, the acclaimed actor has now responded, putting the speculation to rest with grace and humility.
In a recent interview, Tripathi addressed the growing buzz around him potentially replacing Rawal in Hera Pheri 3. He said, “I read and heard about fans wanting me to play that part. But I don’t think I can do it. Paresh Sir is an extraordinary actor, and I am nothing in front of him. I respect him immensely and don’t believe I’m the right person for the job.”
Tripathi’s statement follows Rawal’s sudden departure from the franchise, which has reportedly led to a ₹25 crore lawsuit filed by Akshay Kumar's production house. According to reports, Rawal had initially agreed to reprise his role, and the film’s shoot had even begun when he pulled out, shocking both fans and his co-stars.
Suniel Shetty, who plays Shyam in the series, expressed his surprise in an interview, saying, “I am as shocked as you are. I spoke to him for only a second, and he asked to meet. We haven’t been able to meet and talk yet. We shot the trailer, so I don’t know what happened. Paresh ji is not like this. He wouldn't announce something like this publicly unless it was serious. I, Paresh ji, and Akshay are always united when it comes to Hera Pheri.”
Despite reports suggesting creative differences, Rawal clarified that he continues to share a strong rapport with director Priyadarshan, suggesting that the reason for his exit may lie elsewhere.
As the future of Hera Pheri 3 remains uncertain, one thing is clear—Pankaj Tripathi’s respectful stance has earned him even more admiration, proving once again why he's one of the most grounded stars in the industry.
